WATERTOWN — After building a 4-0 advantage, the Huron boys’ soccer team held on for a 6-4 victory against Watertown on Thursday.

The win snaps a three game losing skid for the Tigers, who are now 4-6-1.

“It was a much improved game by our offense tonight. We finally were able to put some goals on the board and score,” Huron coach Leah Branaugh said. “I was happy with the way our offense attacked for us. We were playing a little short with some injuries.”

The Tigers had the lone goal of the opening half, as Sha Sher found the net on a pass from Ronaldo Pineda in the 38th minute.

Huron added three goals during the first eight minutes of the second half to build a 4-0 advantage.

Biat Say scored on a pass from Lay Mwe Thaw in the 41st minute; Mwe Thaw then scored on a pass from Pineda in the 43rd minute and Sher scored on an unassisted shot in the 47th minute.

Watertown managed to cut its deficit in half with goals in the 53rd and 60th minutes, but Huron answered with a second goal of the game by Say in the 63rd minute on a pass from Pineda.

Say would earn the hat trick for the Tigers with his third goal on an unassisted shot in the 70th minute.

The goal split a pair of goals by the Arrows.

“We had a couple of mistakes on defense, which hasn’t happened much this year, but luckily our offense was able to bail us out,” Branaugh said. “We need to keep on track for our next games and move the ball this way.”

Alex Bautista recorded 11 saves in the net for Huron to earn the win.

Watertown won the junior varsity game 3-1.

Kuh Ner Moo had the goal for the Tigers, while Micah Larson had six saves as the goalkeeper.

The Tigers will travel to face Pierre at 4 p.m. Tuesday, before closing the regular season at  Harrisburg with a 5 p.m., game Thursday.

In the girls’ varsity game on Tuesday, Watertown recorded a 10-0 victory against the Tigers.

The Huron girls will travel to face Pierre at 6 p.m. Tuesday and be at Harrisburg at 6 p.m. Thursday.
