Police: Drugs found in car during traffic stop, wanted man arrested

SEAFORD, Del. – A late night traffic stop in Seaford lead to two arrests on drug charges.

At around 10 p.m. Thursday, a Seaford Police officer observed a red Ford Mustang traveling northbound on Market Street and performed a wanted inquiry on the driver, indicating that he had an active capias out of the Justice of Peace Court. Officers then stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and wanted subject, 54-year-old Howard Wise, and passenger, 21-year-old Cierra Showell.

Officers took Wise into custody, and Showell reportedly told an officer that she had drug paraphernalia in her purse. A search of the purse led to the discovery of a hypodermic needle, a hemp vape pen, and several empty bags of heroin. Showell was taken into custody, and a second purse belonging to her was found to have two small bags of suspected heroin. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a large clear plastic bag containing several smaller clear plastic bags with 68 wax paper bags with suspected heroin, 2.0 grams of suspected crack cocaine, and 2.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

The pair were each charged with possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wise was held on a $1,150 secured bond, while Showell was released on a $500 unsecured bail.
