A funeral was held today for a Bridgeport man, who police say was killed during a botched robbery.
Friends and family of 21-year-old Jamel Hayden said their final farewells today during a service in Trumbull.
Mourners came from as far away as Jamaica to pay their respects to the popular young man who was set to begin attending college just two days after the Aug. 28 shooting.
Police tell News 12 that Hayden was shot in the back, the victim of an attempted robbery.
Friends and family say he was a beloved member of the community whose life was tragically cut short in "a senseless act of violence."
Two suspects are behind bars in connection with the killing.
