With the ascent of “Fire,” Foo Fighters now boast 27 top 10s, dating to 1995, when their debut single “This Is a Call” hit No. 2. Red Hot Chili Peppers rank second with 25 top 10s, followed by Green Day (24), U2 (23), Pearl Jam and Weezer (19 each).
Of their 27 top 10s, Foo Fighters have 10 No. 1s, most recently leading with “Something From Nothing” in 2014-15.
Previously, “Fire” ruled Mainstream Rock Airplay for a week and rose to No. 3 on Adult Alternative Airplay earlier in September. On the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay survey, “Fire” leads for a fifth week, up 2% to 6.2 million audience impressions, a new weekly best, according to MRC Data.
Concurrently, “Fire” holds at No. 4 on the streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, after debuting at its No. 2 peak in February. In the Sept. 10-16 tracking week, it earned 170,000 U.S. streams.
“Fire” is from Foo Fighters’ latest LP Medicine at Midnight, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums, Alternative Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts in February and has earned 178,000 equivalent album units to date.
