CHADRON – Chadron State College will celebrate Homecoming from Oct. 4-9 with a theme of the Soaring 20s. Alumni events include a variety of receptions and reunions, while student have planned a large slate of activities.
Monday, Oct. 4, will feature Tailgating by CSC clubs in the parking lot south of Beebe Stadium at 5:30 p.m. A double feature movie night will start at 7 p.m. on the video board at Elliott Field. The best tailgate will earn a cash prize for the club.
Wednesday, Oct. 6, will feature a campus wide scavenger hunt. All interested teams should meet at the Student Senate Office in the Student Center for registration at 6 p.m. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. Students on the top three teams will receive cash prizes.
Thursday, Oct. 7, the Pep Rally will take place on Elliott Field at 7 p.m. with the Coronation of Homecoming Royalty immediately afterward.
The Cardinal Key National Honor Society president will share the history of lighting C-Hill. Participants in the tradition are asked to bring good hiking shoes and lanterns, flashlights, or phones for light.
Later that evening, the Student Center Pit will host a dance in the Student Center Ballroom following the lighting of C-Hill.
Friday, Oct. 8, during the volleyball match against New Mexico Highlands in the Chicoine Center at 6 p.m. the Homecoming Committee will have a booth with give-away items for CSC students. The best fans of the volleyball game, determined by judges in the crowd, will earn cash prizes.
Saturday, Oct. 9, the Homecoming parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at Tenth and Main Street. Parade entries will proceed north on Main Street. The Blue Key National Honor Society will honor Chadron’s first responders as co-marshals of the parade and their vehicles will lead the procession.
According to Dr. John Wojcik, CSC’s Director of Bands, the CSC Eagle Band and the following high school bands will march in the parade: Edgemont, S.D., Custer, S.D., Kimball, Neb., Banner County, Neb., and Bayard. Two additional high school bands, Sterling, Colo., and Hay Springs, Neb., and three students from Gordon-Rushville will perform during the football game.
During the football game against CSU-Pueblo at 1 p.m., the Homecoming Committee will have a booth with give-away items for CSC students and best student fans of the football game, determined by judges in the crowd, will earn cash prizes.
The volleyball team will play Adams State University in the Chicoine Center at 6 p.m.
