Fremont Police arrested a 24-year-old woman Thursday for felony animal cruelty, after officers confiscated a severely-malnourished dog from a home on September 11th.Janelle Winners, 24, was keeping the dog in a kennel outside her home.The Labrador mix named Maya weighed around 15 pounds when police found her. The dog should be around 40 pounds.Animal advocate Cindy Doerr said on a GoFundMe page that Maya has since gained five pounds with the help or emergency veterinary care. Medical expenses will exceed $10,000 for the dog. Maya took her first steps in the last week and continues to gain new energy.
