Multiple health departments are hosting free COVID-19 testing over the next few days as demand has surged in Central Virginia.
Monday, between 9 a.m. and noon, you're invited to come by for a free COVID-19 test at Centra Urgent Care on Forest Road. The event is in the parking lot behind the building.
The Central Virginia Health District says all are welcome, regardless of known exposure or presence of symptoms.
The Roanoke City & Alleghany Health Districts are also hosting testing events:
- Saturday, Sept. 25 - Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Vaccination Clinic (1002 Moorman Avenue Northwest Roanoke VA 24016) - Pfizer & J&J
- Saturday, Oct. 2, - Mt Zion AME (2128 Melrose Avenue Northwest Roanoke VA 24017) - Pfizer & Moderna
- Sunday, Oct. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. - Thrasher Park (930 Old Vinton Mill Road NE Roanoke VA 24012) - Pfizer & J&J
- Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. - Williamson Road Library (3837 Williamson Road Roanoke VA 24012) - Pfizer & Moderna

You can expect to have your results within 72 hours.
The testing events are being held due to an increased testing demand and limited community options.
While testing remains an important tool in fighting the spread of COVID-19 across Virginia, CVHD says getting vaccinated is the best preventative measure you can take.
