A local construction company that was the victim of a theft over the weekend has discovered another item stolen, one worth $125,000.

On Monday, Smoky Hill Construction, 1615 W. Magnolia Road, reported to police that sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 6:30 a.m. Monday, the following items were stolen from a fenced-in area at the business.

●A 2001 Dodge Ram pickup with a Kansas license plate of 620980

●A black dual-axle trailer with Kansas license plate of 567065

Both the pickup and the trailer had company decals on them.

Police believe that the thief attempted to steal a Ford F150 belonging to the company, however the pickup was found stuck in the mud behind the business, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said on Tuesday.

Additionally, an employee-owned pickup that was parked at the business had both the headlights and taillights removed and a window broken, Forrester said.

Total loss at that point was estimated at just under $11,000, he said.

On Wednesday, officers were called back to Smoky Hill Construction after employees discovered an additional theft, Forrester said this morning.
