The View co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro have tested positive for COVID-19. The co-hosts, both of whom are vaccinated, seemed to learn of their positive test results right as Vice President Kamala Harris was set to sit down with the panel for her first live, in-studio appearance since taking office.

Initially, executive producer Brian Teta said Harris, who had already arrived at the studio, would appear virtually, but that became less of a guarantee as noon approached. As producers scrambled to get Harris on-air behind-the-scenes, Joy Behar and Sara Haines took audience questions for about 30 minutes and attempted to fill time as best they could.

With less than 10 minutes left in the episode, Behar and Haines finally managed to sit down (virtually) with the vice president. Behar opened the brief interview with an apology before asking Harris about how to convince anti-vaxxers to take the vaccine. Afterwards, Haines asked if the Biden administration plans to "halt all deportations of Haitians at the Southern border," but the VP skirted around the question. "We have to do more int terms of supporting the Haitians who are returning to the island," she said, a line she repeated multiple times.

Haines also grilled Harris about the "chaos" in Afghanistan, asking, "How did so much go so wrong so fast?"

"It was time to end that 20-year war," replied Harris. "The United States has an obligation, and we as leaders have an obligation, to appreciate that we're a global leader. We have interests around the world, and we have to stay focused on those interests wherever they take place."
