With their squishy faces and bat ears, French bulldogs can be hard to resist, but that's what makes these precious pups a target for thieves.

That's what breeder Deborah K. in Clear Lake, Texas, found out when she thought she was meeting a potential buyer this week.

Deborah was selling two puppies named Panda and Piggy and planned to meet the buyer in a well-lit Kroger parking on Wednesday, September 22.

"The next thing you know, the driver comes charging out with an automatic weapon and runs over to my husband and grabs the dog. When I look up, the man I've been talking to has a gun to my head," Deborah told KTRK.

Shoppers streaming in and out of the grocery store saw the ordeal. Deborah believes that this robbery wasn't the criminals' first because of how calm they were despite having multiple witnesses.

"Their hands weren't shaking when they had the guns pointed at us. They didn't seem scared at all, and they were very brazen. There was no concern," she said.

Together, Panda and Piggy were valued at $8,000 - $9,000. Deborah fears she'll never see the two puppies again.

"I hope wherever they end up, that they're okay and safe and somebody loves them. But, I want to see these men go to jail."

French bulldogs are among the top 10 dog breeds that get stolen the most, according to Reader's Digest. Frenchies are a target for thieves because of their popularity and small size.
