On Wednesday (September 22), Netflix released the first trailer for Britney vs Spears , an upcoming documentary about Britney Spears ' battle to end her conservatorship. The preview teases an investigation into the "the tangled history of the conservatorship" as the pop star's recent testimony plays over performance clips.

" Britney vs Spears tells the explosive story of Britney’s life and her public and private search for freedom . Featuring years-long investigative work, exclusive interviews and new documents, this Netflix feature film paints a thorough portrait of the pop star’s trajectory from girl next door to a woman trapped by fame and family and her own legal status," the official synopsis reads. "It shows Britney's life without utilizing the traumatic images that have previously defined her."

While Spears has not commented on the Netflix documentary yet, her fiance, Sam Asghari , called out the streaming service on Instagram. "I hope the profit from these docs go towards fighting against injustice #freebritney," Asghari commented on Netflix's post about the doc.

Asghari also appeared to agree with a lengthy comment from film producer Bobby Campbell, who wrote:

"How much money is being made by third parties from this documentary leveraging Britney's personal story and its value in the media? There needs to be transparency about how or whether the filmmakers are profiting from this doc, or if they are donating their fees to Britney's legal defense, or to legal defense funds to aid those who do not have the financial resources to fight undue conservatorships. Even if it is in support of freeing Britney, this appears to be exploitative."

Spears's fiance simply replied with the '100' emoji on Campbell's comment.
