Officials confirmed through an autopsy that the human remains of a man believed to have been fatally attacked by an alligator after Hurricane Ida were found inside the massive animal.
St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Charles Preston confirmed the information to Forbes.
Preston said the remains of Timothy Satterlee, 71, were found inside a 12-foot long, 504 pound alligator.
The alligator attack was reported in the Slidwell area after Hurricane Ida drenched the area with heavy rain. Satterlee's wife recounted the horrific details to police.
The man's wife told officers that her husband had gone under his home to check on something when she heard a "splash" from water. What she said she discovered was terrifying: her husband being attacked by an alligator.
The woman told authorities she went to get help, but returned to find her husband was gone, WGNO reported.
