A Golden Valley man has been found guilty after fatally assaulting a man at a Minneapolis bar in 2019.

Erik Kravchuk, 30, was convicted of unintentional second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter and fifth-degree assault in Hennepin County Court Thursday.

On July 28 of 2019, Kravchuk struck a man with his forearm at a downtown Minneapolis bar. The victim was identified as Aleksandre Sambelashvili, 42, of Maple Grove.

Sambelashvili, a Medtronic employee who worked on heart disease products, died nearly a month later in August at Hennepin Medical Center of a traumatic brain injury. Kravchuk was arrested by Minneapolis police for murder in September of 2019.

Kravchuk’s sentencing is set for Dec. 6.

“The brazen, violent and ultimately fatal action committed by Mr. Kravchuk resulted in the death of an innocent man,” Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a statement.

“The jury found the defendant guilty of all counts, and he will be sentenced accordingly.
