The Mets did not lose last night, nor did they win, because they didn’t play.

The Mets travel to Milwaukee today to visit the playoff-bound Brewers for a three-game series. Tylor Megill will make the start against Eric Lauer with the first pitch scheduled for 8:10 PM.

Whether Megill fits into the team’s starting rotation plans for next year remains to be seen, and it might depend on a few factors writes Tim Healey.

Also unclear is Javy Baez’s future with the Mets, though he continues to get full-throated support from Francisco Lindor.

Jeurys Familia made it clear that he would like to return to the Mets next season. He currently shares the team lead in pitcher wins with nine.

Where Michael Conforto lands next season is anyone’s guess, though he hasn’t done himself many favors with his play this season.

All of this free agent speculation depends on who is making the personnel decisions next season. Some people think it should be Billy Beane.

The Braves squandered a three-run lead by giving up five runs in the bottom of the seventh as the Diamondbacks took the opener of the series 6-4 in Phoenix.

The Phillies found themselves down 6-0 before scoring twelve straight runs against the Pirates and winning 12-6 in Philadelphia. They made some impressive history in the process.

Bryce Harper is the National League’s MVP according to Mike Schmidt, who might be biased but who also might not be wrong.

Juan Soto singlehandedly defeated the Reds with two home runs as the Nationals played spoiler with a 3-2 win in Cincinnati.

Fish Stripes advocated for Lewin Díaz to replace Jesús Aguilar as the team’s starting first baseman next season.

After yesterday’s proceedings, the Braves now hold a two-game lead atop the NL East over the Phillies.

Around Major League Baseball

The White Sox clinched the NL Central title with a 7-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader in Cleveland. Unfortunately, the champagne celebration had to wait until the end of the second game, a 5-3 Cleveland victory.

The Cardinals won their 12th straight game with an 8-5 victory over the Brewers and have solidified themselves in the second wild-card spot as the season winds down.

Adam Wainwright pitched four innings and struck out only one batter, but that one strikeout was the 2,000th of his career. You know what, good for him.

The Dodgers gained ground in the NL West race with a 7-5 win over the Rockies in Denver and looked pretty darn good doing so. The Padres beat the Giants 7-6 and shortened the San Francisco divisional lead to one game.

The Mariners shot themselves back into the AL Wild Card race by completing a 4-game sweep with a 6-5 win over the Athletics in Oakland.

The Diamondbacks extended manager Torey Lovullo’s contract into 2022 with an option for 2023.
