The Buffalo Bills are back at Highmark Stadium in Week 3 to take on the Washington Football Team.
The Bills are coming off a dominant 35-0 shutout win against the Miami Dolphins and are looking to build upon their Week 2 win by shutting down Terry McLaurin and the Washington Football Team.
The Football Team is also coming off a win in Week 2 to the New York Giants. Looking to avoid a 0-2 start to the season, it was backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke that stepped in for his first regular season start since he joined the Washington Football Team.
Since the loss of starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, Heinicke now has the chance to prove he has what it takes to be a starting NFL quarterback.
The defensive front of the Football team, considered one of the best in the NFL, was primarily the reason why they made the postseason in 2020. However, this defense has raised more questions than optimism since struggling right from Week 1.
When Washington took the field against the Giants, the start of the game looked similar to Week 1′s 20-16 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers. The defense gave up a touchdown on the opening drive and the Giants found themselves up early.
The defense struggled against the run which allowed for Giants quarterback Daniel Jones to rush for 95 yards and one touchdown. However, the defense was able to reach Jones and sacked him four times on Thursday night.
In Week 2, Heinicke threw 46 times, completing 36 of those throws for 336 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
The Bills are back at home for the first time since the Week 1 loss to the Steelers. Be sure to look out for a fired up Bills Mafia crowd, looking to see their team win their first home game of the season.
Buffalo’s defense was red hot against the Dolphins, holding them to 216 yards, recording six sacks and an interception. They should look to do many of the same things they did in Miami. This will be the first time this season that Taylor Henicike will face an elite defense.
Josh Allen will look to put up a stronger performance in Week 3 and may look to utilize his own run game as the Giants let Jones rush for 95 yards. His ability to tuck the ball and run has allowed for 25 career rushing touchdowns.
Buffalo’s running backs played a crucial role in their win against Miami. After fumbling the ball on the third drive of the play, Zack Moss had six rushes for 15 yards and two rushing touchdowns following the fumble. Devin Singletary rushed for 82 yards on 13 carries.
The Bills defense needs to carry over their success from last week and with an improved performance from Allen, this will be a hard team to beat.
