City of Seguin giving residents a chance to spruce up this Fall

City of Seguin giving residents a chance to spruce up this Fall

City to host annual Fall Clean-Up Day this Saturday

(Seguin) – The city of Seguin is giving you an opportunity to get rid of those unwanted items around your home during Saturday’s Fall Clean-Up event being held in the Seguin Coliseum parking lot.

Jennifer Sourdellia, the public information officer for the city of Seguin, says the city hosts clean-up days every fall and spring.

“This is going to be the perfect time to rid your garbage or your home of unwanted items so if you have things you want to get rid of and you just don’t know what to do with them, simply load them up. Load everything on your truck or trailer, bring it to us this Saturday at the Seguin Coliseum….”

“We make it really easy. We’ll unload everything and dispose of it for you and it’s all free,” said Sourdellia.

Sourdellia says the process is made easy for residents to dispose of their unwanted items. She says residents don’t even have to get out of their vehicles. She says crews will be on hand to help unload your items.

“We accept junk disposal, scrap metal – you can bring appliances, but we ask that it be without Freon. We also will take no more than 10 automobile tires without rims and another cool thing we do there is we offer paper shredding. That is available to our residents. Bring a limit of two boxes or two garbage bags full of sensitive documents and we’ll shred those and get rid of it for you,” said Sourdellia.

Sourdellia says residents are also reminded of those things that won’t be accepted.

“Pretty much every time we have a cleanup day, we always have a problem with people bringing their brush or their limbs to us as part of this collection and that is something that we absolutely will not accept. Brush is collected as part of the residents’ normal collection so that will not be taken at our Cleanup Day. We also do not accept any sort of hazardous materials or chemicals – for example, paint. That is another one that we see a lot of every cleanup day that we have. So, leave your paint at home or dispose of it elsewhere. Don’t bring it to us. We also don’t take any plywood, treated wood, old fences, sheds, old building materials, any construction material or debris will also not be accepted. We will not be taking any appliances that have Freon inside of them and we also will not be accepting any tractor, ATV, bicycle or tires from commercial businesses,” said Sourdellia.

The Clean-Up Day will be held this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the Seguin Coliseum parking lot. Residents must show proof of residency in the Seguin city limits to participate. Proof may include a driver’s license or utility bill.
