Coastal Carolina Students are Riding the Surf Turf Like Never Before

CONWAY, S.C. - Coastal Carolina football has made a huge name for itself in just the past two years. They've put Coastal Carolina on the map and grew a fan base the school has never seen before.

Brooks Stadium saw its most attended football game in history at the Kansas game on September 10th. According to Matt Hogue, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation, around 6,100 students attended this game. This is another record for the school.

Gamedays at Coastal Carolina have become quite an event on campus. Fans, students, and even faculty and staff have come out to support the Chants. The atmosphere and hype around gameday has drawn a huge student crowd to games.

"The student section is always insane and exciting," said Aly Poston, a CCU sophomore. "Everyone is so loud and cheering on the football team".

Poston has attended every home football game this season. She says the success of the team has pushed her and many other students to come out and support them.

Not only is the student section fun for current students. It is a great marketing tool to get Coastal Carolina's name and programs out there.

"Future students see that excitement and say that's where I want to go," said Hogue.

The increase in student fans has had a huge impact on the football team. The cheering and excitement from the student section have helped on key plays throughout the game. "They can give you that extra oomph that you needed," said Hogue.

The football team has given students a lot of pride in their school. Students' participation in gameday shows the support and love they have for Coastal Carolina.

"We all want to be a part of this, and we support our school and the team 100%," said Poston.
