Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Cowboys’ Micah Parsons embracing ‘wild bull’ role, says Jalen Hurts next on ‘hit list’ of QBs in 2021 - CBS Sports
His next assignment is to fluster former second-second pick Jalen Hurts, a QB that isn’t as potentially lethal in the air as Herbert, but offers a much bigger challenge on the ground. Hurts has been known to make things happen with his legs — either extending plays for downfield heaves or carving off chunks himself in the rushing game — presenting a different type of challenge for Parsons on Monday night. For his part, the Cowboys defensive rookie dynamo sees Hurts as next QB on his list to bury. “I would say every quarterback that’s on the season is on the hit list,” Parsons told media on Wednesday. “I want all of them. Herbert was just the guy I had that week. But Hurts, he’s on the hit list now too. You got to look at it like you’re trying to be the Terminator out there.”

Lessons learned from Week 2 loss, look ahead to matchup against Dallas, reasons for both optimism and concern - BGN Radio
Brandon Lee Gowton and Jimmy Kempski run through the biggest things we learned about the Birds from Week 2. Then the guys look ahead to Philly’s Week 3 matchup against Dallas and give reasons for both optimism and concern. To wrap things up, BLG and Jimmy make their NFC East picks against the spread (while also looking at the Colts and Dolphins) and give their Eagles-Cowboys prediction!

Eagles at Cowboys: Five matchups to watch - PhillyVoice
Ezekiel Elliott isn’t close to the runner he once was, but the combination of Zeke as the hammer, and the now more explosive Tony Pollard can be a potent 1-2 combo. Ezekiel Elliott: 27 rushes, 104 yards, 3.9 YPC, 1 TD. Tony Pollard: 16 rushes, 123 yards, 7.7 YPC, 1 TD. The Eagles were very good stuffing the run on Sunday against the 49ers, but San Francisco began having success on toss plays that avoided the Eagles’ DTs instead of trying to run through them. It will be interesting to see if the Cowboys copy that approach, and how Gannon adjusts. The Eagles won’t have to worry about Dak Prescott as a runner they way they used to. He does not yet look like the same player as a runner after his gruesome injury a season ago.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni embraces Dallas Cowboys rivalry with not-so-subtle T-shirt - ESPN
There were no “Beat Philly” shirts in Dallas, but Ezekiel Elliott was wearing a sweatshirt that read, “VICTORY.” “It means a lot. I mean definitely probably our biggest rival, especially since I’ve been here,” Elliott said. “Probably the team I don’t like the most. But Philly week is always fun. I know AT&T is going to be electric Monday night ... I think we’re ready to go.” Would Elliott like to see his coach, Mike McCarthy, wear a T-shirt that reads “Beat Philly” or something worse? “Nah, we stay in our lane,” he said. Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs also offered his opinion on Sirianni’s news conference attire. “Nothing for real. I really don’t try and pay attention to outside factors, outside of our organization. I just focus on what we’re focusing on ... so it don’t bother me,” Diggs said.

Why isn’t Jalen Hurts throwing into the middle of the field? - NBCSP
One of the byproducts through two games of this lack of middle-of-the-field passing game has been underwhelming production from the Eagles’ tight ends, who get paid to produce in the middle. The Birds have Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz again this season but neither have really produced much. Goedert has 6 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. And Ertz has 3 catches for 40 yards. Through two weeks, the Eagles have used 12 personnel (two tight ends), on 25% of their offensive snaps and 11 personnel on 64% of their snaps.

NFL QB Index, Week 3: Tom Brady claims top spot, while Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson bottom out - NFL.com
26) Jalen Hurts. There was some bad luck in Philly’s frustrating offensive day against the 49ers, but there was also some surprisingly bad decision-making from Hurts on zone-read plays. Without a lot of chain-moving elements in the passing game, Hurts needs the schemed running game to work, especially in short yardage. The run sets up the pass in Philly so if the run isn’t working beyond scrambles, not much else will.

2021 Fantasy Football Rankings: Quarterbacks for Week 3 - Fake Teams
5) Jalen Hurts. He was the QB6 in Week 1, and his QB10 finish last week could have been better had Jalen Reagor not stepped out of bounds on a would-be long TD. [...] 6) Dak Prescott. He was great at TB but LAC held him in check last week. This is Dallas’ home opener, though. Expect fireworks.

With injuries piling up at DE, Cowboys rookie Chauncey Golston could make his NFL debut vs. Eagles - Blogging The Boys
The injury bug is hitting the Cowboys hard heading into week three against the Eagles. DeMarcus Lawrence will miss significant time with a broken foot, Dorance Armstrong will miss the next month or so with a high ankle sprain, Neville Gallimore is still on the IR-return list, Donovan Wilson is still not practicing with a groin injury, Carlos Watkins will miss Monday Night Football and possibly more with a knee injury, and Randy Gregory is working back from missing week two dealing with COVID. With all these injuries piling up on the defensive side of the ball, rookie third-round pick Chauncey Golston could be making his NFL debut on Monday Night Football against the division rival, Philadelphia Eagles.

Ezekiel Elliott shrugs at criticism that he’s sharing duties despite his high salary - PFT
In other words, the Cowboys are stuck. They could trade him after 2021, but he’ll still get the money. They could cut him after 2021, but he’ll get the difference between whatever someone else pays him (much less than $12.9 million) and the $12.9 million. If, as it seems, Elliott has begun to be less effective and if the Cowboys had the flexibility to cut the cord or squeeze him to take less, they would. Thanks to Elliott’s holdout, they can’t. Meanwhile, Pollard is under contract through next year. In early 2023, the Cowboys will have to decide whether to keep Elliott at $10.9 million, to sign Pollard to a new contract, or to move on from both of them.

Giants vs. Falcons injury news: Kadarius Toney limited on Thursday with ankle injury - Big Blue View
Kadarius Toney, the New York Giants first-round draft pick who has already missed considerable time with COVID-19 and then a hamstring injury, popped up on the team’s Thursday injury report. He was listed as a limited participant in practice with an ankle injury. Toney has been a non-factor in two games, with a pair of catches for -2 yards. Toney played 19 snaps in Week 2 vs. the Washington Football Team and was never targeted. Cam Brown (hamstring) did not practice. Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay, Logan Ryan and Evan Engram were all listed as limited participants.

Colts’ Injury Report: Zach Pascal & Xavier Rhodes Return to Practice, Wentz Misses Second Straight Day - Stampede Blue
Neither quarterback Carson Wentz nor tackle Braden Smith practiced for a second straight day. Wentz continues to work his way back from two sprained ankles, and Smith is still battling both a foot and thumb injury, which he sustained in Week 1.

ESPN Has The Dolphins As One Of The League’s Worse Pass Blocking Teams - The Phinsider
The team is on pace to allow approximately 128 quarterback hits. Last year the Eagles allowed a league worst 150 hits on QBs, so it’s possible that these numbers don’t cool off. You never want numbers comparable to the worst of the worst, and that’s unfortunately what’s happening here. But above all, Pass Block Win Rate tells a better tale of pressure allowed than sacks or quarterback hits. And indeed, the Dolphins too rank at the bottom of the barrel here.

Panthers 24 Texans 9: Sam Darnold comes up big in Week 3 win over Texans - Cat Scratch Reader
Despite the numbers you will see in the box score, this game was pretty much a big pile of steaming crap. Yes, the Panthers won the game, and Sam Darnold looked the part of a franchise quarterback in the second half, but they lost several key players to injuries that appear to be long term. Christian McCaffrey hurt his leg in the first half, Jaycee Horn hurt his leg in the second half, and both players look like they’re going to miss a considerable amount of time. [BLG Note: The Eagles play the Panthers in Week 5.]

4 burning questions entering Week 3 of the NFL - SB Nation
I’m absolutely in love with this NFL season so far. Through two weeks we’ve seen 10 games be decided by a field goal or less, with 18 teams sitting at a 1-1 record right now. It’s been the greatest display of parity the NFL has seen in years, and it honestly feels like the league is wide open right now. Every week we all have a few things on the schedule we circle and prepare for, so here’s what I’m watching for in Week 3.

The Look Ahead #55: Brady vs The Rams + Chiefs need a win and more! - The SB Nation NFL Show
Each week, Rob “Stats” Guerrera and RJ Ochoa tell you what to watch, what narratives matter, and what you might not be thinking about in the four biggest games on the schedule. Plus, we hit the rest of Week 3 in the lightning round. Brady faces his first real test this year in the Rams’ defense. Is this the week people really start to worry about the Chiefs’ defense? The 49ers can prove they’re for real this week against Green Bay. The Bears get forced into making a decision they should have made all along. Week 3 lightning round.
