Lowe Mill Comic Con welcomes guests including comic book artists Dan Fraga, Drew Geraci and Billy Martinez and Power Rangers actors Justin Nimmo and Michael Copon. There’s also cosplay showcases, nerd-culture-centric vendors and a performance by Bit Brigade, a rock band that plays videogame music.

In the guitar-crazed ‘80s, Eric Gales emerged as a teenage blues-rock phenom, and by the early ‘90s Guitar World magazine had named him Best New Talent. Since then he’s released acclaimed albums, performed with Carlos Santana at Woodstock ‘94 and been part of the Experience Hendrix Tour. Back on tour, his searing leads remain intact.

Oenophiles, assemble. Founded by local event planner Ashley Ryals, Crush Wine Festival boasts wines from more than 100 labels, live music by Michelle Boykins, Early James & The Latest and Alan Little, food from BarVista and The Revivalist and a “whiskey and wild game garden.”

The Nerve is a local band with songs influenced by acts like Dire Straits, The Cars, Elvis Costello and Nirvana. Microwave Dave & The Nukes drummer James Irvin fronts the group on vocals and guitar. Bassist Matt Ross, drummer Chase Armstrong and keyboardist Aaron Wilson complete The Nerve, who play their bar gigs with an energy like they’re headlining an arena.
