Sergi Roberto has insisted that Barcelona 'must' win La Liga this season, also claiming that their rivals do not have stronger squads than the Blaugrana.

Roberto was strongly linked with a move away from Camp Nou before eventually agreeing to a wage cut and remaining one of the club's captains. Despite this, he has been roundly booed at several games this season.

In his latest disappointment, Roberto was left on the bench as Barça slipped to a 0-0 draw with Cadiz. He was introduced as a substitute at the break but made little impact, although his side were reduced to ten men when Frenkie de Jong was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

The draw was Barça's third of the season after five games and they currently sit seven points off La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

However, speaking after the game Roberto told El Partidazo de COPE (via Football Espana) that Barcelona should still be targeting the league title this season.

"La Liga is long, but if we don’t turn our form around quickly it’s going to be difficult [to win the league title]," he said. "We have to win La Liga. It’s not good enough to just make the top four. I don’t think the other teams have a better squad."

Roberto's comments seemed to be contradicted by Ronald Koeman after the game. He claimed that his squad's lengthy injury list may prevent them from challenging this season.

"I have already said a number of times that you have to try to win each game, that you have to try to win titles," he said.

"But you have to be realistic. One has to see the squad that we have, the people that we are missing. And also, I have said that if all the players are available…but we are still missing seven."
