Donald Trump Shares Bizarre Photo Mash-Up of Liz Cheney and George W. Bush

Former President Donald Trump has continued his attacks on Liz Cheney and George W. Bush by issuing a bizarre photo mash-up of the GOP congresswoman and the 43rd president.

The image, shared on Twitter by Trump spokesperson Liz Harrington on Thursday, has been circulated by the former president's Save America PAC. It is a composite of images of Bush and Cheney.

Bush, who was president from 2001 to 2009, is set to campaign for Cheney ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. The GOP congresswoman from Wyoming has emerged as a strong critic of Trump and the two have repeatedly denounced each other in public.

Harrington tweeted the composite as a screenshot from the Save America PAC, adding the caption: "ICYMI: Must-See Photo."

Cheney's father, Dick Cheney, served as Bush's vice president and Trump criticized their administration in a statement on Wednesday.

Trump said: "RINO former President George 'Dubya' Bush and his flunky Karl Rove are endorsing warmongering and very low polling, Liz Cheney."

He went on to mention the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, which the Bush administration began, and the fact that he had pardoned Scooter Libby, Dick Cheney's former chief of staff.

"Bush is the person who did not have the courage to give a pardon to his Vice President's Chief of Staff, Scooter Libby, even though Cheney begged for him to do so. He wouldn't, they didn't talk for years," Trump said.

"I didn't know Scooter, but gave him a full pardon—not at their request, but because he deserved it. He suffered greatly. Former Vice President Cheney called to effusively thank me. Now he is on the side of his daughter who is so bad for Wyoming and the United States that she is polling at record lows."

Trump has endorsed one of Cheney's challengers in the Republican primary, Harriet Hageman, while some other GOP candidates have already dropped out of the race in an effort to clear the field for Hageman.

Cheney now sits on the House select committee investigating the events of January 6. She has repeatedly said Trump's claims about the election being "stolen" are false and voted to remove him from office during his second impeachment in January.

Her criticisms of the former president have already cost her politically. Cheney was removed as chair of the House Republican Conference in May and could face a tough fight to keep her seat in 2022.
