Georges St-Pierre was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on Thursday night as part of the 2020 class.

The Hall of Fame ceremony, which took place at Park MGM in Las Vegas ahead of Saturday's UFC 266 event, was delayed over a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

St-Pierre, a former middleweight and welterweight champion who broke into the UFC in 2004 and last competed in 2017, is widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

"The timing was everything," UFC president Dana White said as he reflected on the Montreal native's legacy in the promotion. "We were heading into Canada and getting sanctioned in all the different provinces there, and he became a huge star for us, broke tons of records, and that whole time period of Georges St-Pierre and opening Canada was a very massive part of the history of the sport, and a very fun time for me, my staff, and, obviously, the fans.

"He's one of the greatest human beings on the planet, so very happy for him and proud to induct him into the Hall of Fame."

Former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman, UFC vice president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner, and the first fight between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson - which took place in 2013 and resulted in a Jones unanimous decision victory - were also inducted.

Randleman died in 2016 from heart failure caused by complications from pneumonia. He was 44.
