A new Environmental Education and Resiliency Center opened Thursday at Hempstead Lake State Park.
Governor Kathy Hochul was in attendance at the event.
The 8,000 square-foot center is part of a larger park-wide project to ease flooding, improve water quality, and enhance recreational access.
The opening coincided with Climate Week.
Each year, the state uses Climate Week to raise awareness about climate change on a local and national level.
