Avon Lake at Midview

What: Southwestern Conference game

When: 7 p.m., Sept. 24

Where: Ross Field at Edward T. Adelsburg Stadium

Records: Avon Lake 4-1, Midview 1-4

Last year: Avon Lake 42, Midview 0

For the record: Avon Lake’s ride in the driver’s seat of the SWC lasted all of one week as the Shoremen lost to Berea-Midpark a week after their big win over Avon. Now they’re left to pick up the pieces in Week 6 against a Midview squad that picked up its first win in Week 5. … Avon Lake got its starting quarterback back in Week 5, but lost for the first time as the Titans’ defense played extremely well. … Midview defeated Amherst in Week 5 and was led by the area’s leading passer, Marc Reed. He’s the only area passer with more than 1,000 yards and he wasn’t even the Middies’ starter in Week 1. … The Shoremen will need a strong performance from their defense if they want to bounce back and get back in the win column. Midview could pull the upset if they get another big game from Mason Kucera who torched Amherst last week.
