Avon at North Ridgeville

What: Southwestern Conference Game

When: 7 p.m., Sept. 24

Where: Ranger Stadium

Records: Avon 3-2, North Ridgeville 3-2

Last year: Avon 49, North Ridgeville 14

For the record: Surprisingly both teams enter this Week 6 matchup with the same records as North Ridgeville has been one of the area’s most surprising squads this year. … The Rangers are coming off a Week 5 loss to Olmsted Falls. It wasn’t pretty at times, but North Ridgeville made some big plays in the second half to make the final score, 49-19, more respectable. … Avon’s two losses are as good as they come. A Week 2 loss to Medina’s Penn State-bound quarterback Drew Allar and a Week 4 loss to Avon Lake are the only blemishes on their resume. The Eagles bounced back from that loss to the Shoremen with a dominant win over Elyria last week. … The Rangers allowed Olmsted Falls to run for 300-first half yards a week ago and that doesn’t bode well for North Ridgeville against Avon’s talented run game. Sophomore Jakorion Caffey is one of the best runners in the county as evidenced by his ginormous game against Avon Lake.
