The mayor also shared that she is someone who is immunocompromised and has been taking serious safety precautions to avoid the virus.
Adhering to guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Washoe County Health District (WCHD), she will enter a self-isolation and work from home for the next 10 days.
The mayor, being fully vaccinated, is an example of a breakthrough case of COVID-19. The CDC explains how and why breakthrough cases happen, here.
