The Cavs are rumored to be willing to deal big for Ben Simmons.

A new Cavs trade rumor seems to indicate that Cleveland is willing to go all-in on a trade for 76ers point-forward Ben Simmons. Simmons, who has made it clear he has no intentions of ever playing for the Philadelphia-based organization, has been the subject of much discussion during the offseason.

With it now clear that Simmons will force his way out of Philadelphia one way or another, talks have seriously amped up and teams are making their calls to the team in an effort o be the one who snags away the former All-Star.

The Cavs are one of those teams and they are trying to go all-in for him. According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cavs are in fact willing to dump massive amounts of assets to get Simmons.

"Sources maintain the Cavs don’t have any ‘untouchables.’ However, prized rookie Evan Mobley and rising point guard Darius Garland are closest to that designation. The likelihood of either player being moved is incredibly low. That leaves Collin Sexton, Isaac Okoro and future first-rounders to help cajole a Simmons deal."

The Cavs should consider players around Ben Simmons before agreeing to terms

The Cavs may value Darius Garland over Collin Sexton in a trade with Ben Simmons, but Sexton (at least on paper) seems to pair better with the ball-dominant big-man. Asking Simmons and Garland to share the backcourt together may not be an ideal situation, not unless the end-game is to then swap Garland for a complimentary shooter that can play next to Simmons.

While Garland isn’t a bad shooter, he doesn’t space the floor the way you’d need with Simmons on the court.

Keeping Sexton and someone like Lauri Markkanen would be ideal at this juncture if Simmons is indeed an option.
