No. 13 Mountaineers Return to La Grande to Host Beacons and Warriors

LA GRANDE, Ore. - No. 13 Eastern Oregon University Women's Soccer is home for the final time in September as the team hosts a pair of conference foes.

Kickoff
• The Mountaineers (5-1-0, 2-0-0 CCC) are home for just the second time this season when they take on Bushnell and Corban this weekend in a pair of conference match-ups.
• For Eastern, these two games will be their final ones at home in the month of September.
• This weekend's games will be the first home conference contests for the Mountaineers as well.

How to Watch/Follow
• All home games this year will be webcast on the Mountie Sports Network at www.EOUSports.com/watch. All EOU home games will be Pay-Per-View and can be purchased for $7.95 per game. Fans can also purchase an Eastern Oregon All-Access pass to watch all 2021-22 EOU home sporting events for $100.
• Calling the action for this year's home games will be Trevor Curl on play-by-play. Livestreams for all home games will begin 15 minutes prior to kickoff.

EOU Athletics Spectator Policy
• Spectators will be allowed at EOU sporting events, but masks will be required to be worn correctly (over mouth AND nose) at ALL indoor and outdoor events per state and local policy. This is subject to change at any time.
• Failure to comply with conference or institutional attendance policies will result in removal from venue and any further EOU contests.
• General Admission is allowed for both indoor and outdoor events and is on a first come, first serve basis. To see ticket prices for individual EOU sporting events and to purchase tickets, click here.
• Concessions will be available for outdoor EOU athletic events, but not indoor EOU athletic events.
• Students, faculty, and staff wishing to attend indoor EOU Athletic Events can do so for FREE by showcasing their EOU ID card.

Story Lines
• The Mountaineers are currently on a five-game win streak and have not surrendered a goal in that span.
• Dating back to 2019, EOU has won each of its last 10 games inside Community Stadium.
• EOU has never lost to either Bushnell or Corban while under the direction of Jacob Plocher.

Quick Hits
Last Time Out

• The Mountaineers got CCC play started with a pair of shutouts in Portland against Warner Pacific and Multnomah.
• Against the Knights, EOU picked up a 2-0 win thanks to goals by Morgan Farrington and Kayla Storm. 
• The next day, Eastern took down the Lions in dominant fashion winning 10-0. Kana Mateaki had a hat trick with three goals, while Farrington and Mackinley Gregus each notched two goals. Six different Mounties scored in the win.

Previously Against Bushnell/Corban
• EOU and Bushnell last faced off in 2019 with the Mountaineers routing the Beacons 10-0 in Eugene.
• Eastern and Corban squared off last season in a non-conference bout. The Mountaineers won the low scoring affair 1-0 inside Community Stadium.
• Since 2009, EOU is 10-3 against Bushnell and has currently won each of the last three matches. Bushnell last defeated EOU in 2016, 1-0, in an overtime match.
• Since 2007, Corban has the slight advantage over EOU at 8-7-1, but in the previous eight matches the Mounties are 7-0-1 against the Warriors. Corban last defeated EOU back in 2014 in a 3-0 win.
• Under the direction of Jacob Plocher, the Mountaineers are a combined 8-0-1 against the Beacons and Warriors.

Mountaineers vs. the CCC
• All-time, EOU is 95-101-17 in conference matches since the program's inception in 2001.
• The Mountaineers have finished with a .500 record or better nine times and have done so in each of the last six seasons.
• Eastern has won two regular season CCC titles (2017, 2018) and two CCC Tournament titles (2017, 2019).
• The Mountaineers are 34-5-6 in CCC action under the direction of Jacob Plocher.

There's No Place Like Home
• Since 2017, the Mountaineers are a staggering 26-1-0 at home under Head Coach Jacob Plocher.
• Since 2018, when EOU started playing inside Community Stadium, the team is 20-1-0 at home.
• The Mountaineers are currently on a 10-game winning streak at home dating back to 2019.
• Since 2017, EOU has posted three undefeated records at home in 2017, 2018, and 2020.

Road Warriors
• In the Mountaineers first eight games this season, five will be on the road. EOU has yet to play at home this season with the first three games on the road.
• Eastern is currently 4-0-0 this season in true road contests, with all four wins coming via shutout.
• Of the 16 scheduled regular season games for the Mounties in 2021, nine are true road contests.

Blanking the Opposition
• In all five wins for EOU this year, each has come in shutout fashion.
• Under the direction of Jacob Plocher, the Mountaineers have posted 51 total shutouts.
• Dating back to the 2020 regular season, Eastern has posted four straight shutouts at home.
• On the road, EOU has posted shutouts in all four games this season so far.

EOU in the Polls
• The second NAIA Top-25 Women's Soccer Coaches' Poll saw the Mountaineers move up two spots to No. 13.
• In the CCC preseason coaches' poll, Eastern was tabbed to win the conference crown. The Mounties tallied nine first-place votes and racked up 164 points.
• The next scheduled NAIA top-25 poll is set to release Wednesday, Sept. 29.

Scouting the Competition
Bushnell Beacons

• The Beacons enter the weekend with a 2-4-0 overall record and are off to a 0-1-0 start in conference play.
• Bushnell's two wins this season have come against William Jessup University and Simpson University. Both wins were by final scores of 2-1.
• Offensively, the Beacons have put up five goals this season and are averaging 0.83 per game. They have tallied six assists and average 10.0 shots per game.
• Defensively, Bushnell has surrendered 18 goals to the opposition and gives up an average of 3.00 goals per contest. Overall, Bushnell has racked up 22 saves and has committed 56 fouls. 
• Emily Puita leads the way on offense so far with seven points. She has scored a team best three goals and notched an assist. She has a shot on goal percentage of .556 and has taken nine total.
• Two players are tied for the team lead in assists in Dejah Wallot and Karla Cardinal. Both players have two, while Wallot also has a goal scored for four points.
• Wallot also leads the team in shots on goal with seven and she has a shot on goal percentage of 1.000.
• In net, Anabel Mendez has started all six games for the Beacons this year. She has 45 saves on the year and a save percentage of .714.

Corban Warriors
• The Warriors enter the weekend with an unblemished record of 5-0-0 and are off to a 1-0-0 start in conference play.
• Corban has posted shutouts in four of its five wins this season and has surrendered just one goal so far. The team is currently on a three-game shutout streak.
• Offensively, the Warriors have scored 11 goals this season and average 2.20 per game. They take 15.0 shots per game and have dished out six assists so far. 
• Defensively, just one goal has slipped by the Warriors. They are allowing just 0.20 goals per game and allow just 10.2 shots per game. They have four shutouts on the year as well.
• Maria-Frances Serrant is the team's leading scorer with six goals for 12 points. She has taken the most shots with 18 and has 13 shots on goal. 
• Mei Suetsugu is the leader in assists with four on the year. She also has scored one goal for a total of six points. She is second in shots taken with 11 and five have come on goal.
• Klarissa Barajas is the second leading goal scorer with two. She has taken seven total shots and three have come on goal.
• Juliana Pires and Emma Rosner each have one assist on the year to tie for second.
• Two Warriors have played at goalkeeper in Makida Herbert and Alia Alonzo. Herbert has started in four of those contests and leads the way in saves with 19.

Up Next
• Eastern Oregon will be right back on the road to start the Month of October. The Mountaineers begin a three-game road swing starting on Sunday, Oct. 3 at College of Idaho. Kickoff against the Yotes is set for 5:30 p.m. PT.
