EastEnders is already teasing trouble between Dotty Cotton and her Uncle Tom.

It has been revealed that Dotty brought her uncle to Walford to pose as Sonia Fowler's father in order to con her out of Dot Cotton's inheritance money.

Thursday's episode (September 23) kicked off with Sonia sharing the news with Kathy that she planned to invest in her father's business. Dotty looked on briefly, before leaving with a sly smile.

Once Dotty was gone, Kathy warned Sonia to be careful because Rocky had got arrested the day before for fighting in Ruby's club.

Later, Dotty called Rocky (aka her uncle Thomas Cotton) to the club to discuss their plan, but was put off when he started having second thoughts about ripping off Sonia.

"You were in a gutter, Uncle Tom," she reminded him. "I saved you, and I brought you here. It wasn't to play conkers. You're not her dad!"

When Tom hit out at his niece for having "a very cruel tone", Dotty warned her uncle to "pick up [his] game" because she isn't the one with "anything to lose" by telling Sonia and Kathy.

Tom went right back to work trying to get Sonia to hand over money to Dotty, but his 'daughter' was reluctant because of promises she'd made Dot.

"I know there's a good person in there, but she's got to show me, first," Sonia explained.

With his plans foiled for now, Tom did manage to win over Kathy once again, to the point where she hinted they could get back together once she'd come back from her holiday.

Earlier this week, Brian Conley spoke about how volatile the relationship between Tom and Dotty could become if he starts having second thoughts.

"Obviously she is much younger but I think she does have a power over him," he explained. "She is the one that brought him in, she's the one that gave him all the information to be able to con Sonia, so he feels very much under her thumb.

"I feel that he is frustrated with her and he is frustrated with her manipulating him. He knows that she can dish out the dirt to everyone so for him it's like he's got to play this game but he knows he shouldn't. He's in too deep now."

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
