Syracuse, N.Y. — Centro will restore limited routes for several suburbs that had lost service completely amid cuts related to a driver shortage.

Starting Monday, several routes will now service Baldwinsville, North Syracuse, Central Square, Liverpool and the Henry Clay corridor, said Steven Koegel, a spokesman for Centro. Service is still unavailable in Tully, LaFayette and Minoa.

Centro made massive service cutbacks earlier this month because of a severe driver shortage, Koegel said.

Many riders who rely on the bus have had trouble getting to work or school because of the cutbacks.

Centro chose to resume limited service in specific areas based on ridership levels and conversations with individual riders about their transportation needs, Koegel said. A class of three recent training graduates enabled the agency to restore some of its service. Centro also added hours to some part-timers’ schedules.

“We are continuing to look at routes and service every day, on a continuing basis,” Koegel said.

Full schedule times are available on Centro’s website or by calling 315-442-3400.
