Dwight Grant won’t be facing Gabe Green next month.

MMA Fighting confirmed with sources with knowledge of the new matchup that Grant (11-3) will now fight Francisco Trinaldo (26-8) in a welterweight bout at an Oct. 23 UFC event at a location still to be determined. Grant was originally scheduled to face Green, who has withdrawn from the card for reasons that are yet to be disclosed.

The change was first reported by MMA DNA.

Grant has won three of his past four fights, sandwiching a first-round knockout loss to Daniel Rodriguez with consecutive wins over Alan Jouban and Carlos Pedersoli Jr. and a split decision nod over Stefan Sekulic in his most recent outing in April.

This will be the second UFC appearance at 170 pounds for Trinaldo, a longtime lightweight veteran. “Massaranduba” was unsuccessful in his recent move to welterweight, dropping a unanimous decision to Muslim Salikhov in June. That loss snapped a three-fight win streak for Trinaldo, who makes his 24th UFC appearance.

The Oct. 23 UFC event is expected to be headlined by a middleweight bout between recent title challengers Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori.
