Man Arrested In Vehicle Break-Ins South Of Downtown

Lincoln Police were called to the 1600 block of G Street around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22nd to investigate a report of a man breaking into parked cars.

The caller told police they saw a man break the windows on two vehicle, get inside and rummage through them. The caller was also able to provide a description of the suspect to dispatch. Officers arrived and saw a man matching that description riding a bicycle nearby. Police were able to take the man into custody. Inside his backpack, officers found a speaker that had been removed from one of the vehicles. Also in his backpack, police found bolt cutters, wrenches and a flashlight. The man was positively identified by the witness as the person seen breaking into the vehicles.

The man was identified as 28 year old Jonathan Pleines,, who had two outstanding warrants for his arrest for theft. Pleines was then booked for possession of burglar’s tools, theft by unlawful taking, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of entering a mother vehicle without permission, and on the two warrants.
