Gov. DeSantis announces acquisition of additional doses of monoclonal antibody treatment in Tampa

TAMPA (WFLA) – Gov. Ron DeSantis made a stop in Tampa on Thursday at the Department of Health in Hillsborough County to announce the acquisition of 3,000 doses of monoclonal antibody treatment from a different supplier.

The acquisition comes just after seven states, including Florida, accounted for 70% of monoclonal antibody orders in the country.

“Given this reality, we must work to ensure our supply of these life-saving therapies remains available for all states and territories, not just some,” the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement.

These seven states are also among those that have the lowest vaccination rates in the country.

Gov. Ron DeSantis says previously Florida was distributing 40,000 to 45,000 doses of Regeneron a week at state sites and hospitals. However, due to Biden administration changes, Florida will be getting less than 18,000 doses a week.
