Rhode Island native Debra Messing has taken to Twitter — again — this time, to question why Kim Kardashian is slated to be a host of Saturday Night Live.

After Variety Magazine wrote that “Owen Wilson, Kim Kardashian, Jason Sudeikis and Rami Malek have been tapped to host #SNL next season, as the show livestreams on Peacock for the first time,” Messing Tweeted the following:

“Why Kim Kardashian? I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?” she wrote.

Messing, who attended East Greenwich High School and in 1986 was Rhode Island's Junior Miss, starred in “Will and Grace,” is well known for her prolific Tweeting.

In 2019, former President Donald Trump even weighed in, calling her “The Mess” after one war of words.

As GoLocal reported:

"President Donald Trump is weighing on the political battle started by actress and native Rhode Islander Debra Messing -- who had incurred the backlash of Providence College grad John O'Hurley.

Earlier this week, O’Hurley blasted Messing for her effort to “out” Hollywood stars that support Trump. Now, Trump has weighed in, taking to Twitter on Thursday to blast the East Greenwich native."  Read more here

Latest Messing Tweet Storm

The reaction to Messing’s Tweet about Kardashian was split — with some people in support of her questioning the choice — and others, not.

“I am saddened by this choice. I thought the guests had to have talent or, like you said, to also promote the latest project they finished or something noteworthy of their talent. What makes her worthy of being a host? What talent does she have? #BoycottSNL #SNL,” wrote one Twitter user.

“Yes Debra, you are missing something. Like the last 40 years. You may not like her, but as you say, KK is a cultural icon. SNL has had athletes, politicians, community leaders, models, businessmen and media personalities as hosts. I am not a fan of her, but she may be great,” wrote another.

What Twitter feud will Messing stir up next?

Stay tuned.
