Lake Street Dive have canceled two indoor shows on their tour due to both venues having no safety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The shows were set to take place at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Ariz., and Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas.
“While COVID continues to impact communities across the country, we are considering the safety of our families, fans, and extended communities on a daily basis. We are doing our best to navigate this landscape, balancing what we hope to be a reasonable expectation of safety measures and factors at each venue with our massive desire to play shows for you, our fans,” wrote the band on Twitter.
Lake Street Dive began their tour in Portland, Maine with an outdoor concert with health and safety measures in place.
The band also added to their Tweet that Mesa Arts Center is a city municipality and is barred from implementing mask mandates and requiring proof of vaccination from their patrons due to state law.
All ticket holders will receive automatic refunds.
Ticket buyers for these two shows will receive notification and automatic refund from point of purchase. pic.twitter.com/5nh0E9XYtG

October 2, 2021 at 2:55 pmMy comment was apparently moderated out… I’ll try again without the link to factual article if this was cause.
Emotional approach:
Read…better listen and watch as dying or severely impacted Covid victims beg others to get vaccinated
Science approach…think journalism…i.e. free and factual press:
“Fully vaccinated people have made up as few as 0.1 percent of and as many as 5 percent of those hospitalized with the virus in those states, and as few as 0.2 percent and as many as 6 percent of those who have died.”
Good human approach:
There are laws to protect others from negligent behavior: DUI, and banning smoking in public places. Want to drink or smoke yourself to death in own home?…I guess your choice. Don’t cause me harm though.
A nod to parents/grandparents approach:
Polio vaccine introduced 1955, MMR vaccine early 60s: thanks Mom, Dad, and Grandparents for not politicizing medicine and science!
Criticizing a band for protecting themselves, the vaccinated and even unvaccinated is sad commentary.

September 23, 2021 at 9:10 pmIt is what it is. If you support freedom, you support artists right to cancel based on their beliefs.

September 23, 2021 at 2:54 pmI just attended 3 shows in 3 states, not LSD, shows. 3 different proto calls as had proof of vax,no masks mandatory. N.m. had no proof of vax, but mask required, and co. Had both proof of vac and masks. That being said people were not wearing masks for the most part… pretty confusing. Me? I just wore my mask the whole time…
