The Shawnee County Health Department on Thursday released its weekly COVID-19 Community Indicator Report.

While the Shawnee County Community Indicator maintained a substantial index this week, COVID-19 cases and the percentage of positive tests decreased from last week's report.

The number of cases dropped from 663 to 527, while the percentage of positive tests decreased from 8.6 to 7 percent.

The summary index score dropped from 13 to 12. A score between 9 and 16 is considered substantial.

And effective Monday, Sept. 27, the Shawnee County Health Department will be resuming their normal appointment scheduling process for all immunizations, including COVID vaccines, at its 10th St. Clinic.

Director Teresa Fisher said the change was due to the small size of the building located at 2115 SW 10th Ave. in Topeka and the lack of space to social distance.

Individuals can call 785-251-5700 to schedule an appointment for the following operational hours:

Monday, Thursday, Friday
