WHITE – Hundreds of bushels of corn were damaged by a grain dryer fire Tuesday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire was reported at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday and occurred at 206th Street and 479th Avenue, southeast of White, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
“The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office along with the White Fire Department responded to the above location for a grain dryer on fire,” he said.
“Upon arrival, crews found fire within the grain inside the Farm Fan Inc. grain dryer. The dryer and approximately 500 bushels of corn inside were damaged from the fire,” Sebring said.
“The total loss from the incident is estimated at $53,000. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time,” Sebring said.
