Staatsoper Hamburg to Broadcast ‘Les Contes d’Hoffmann’

Staatsoper Hamburg is set to broadcast Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” on mezzo in October.

The company announced that the production will be broadcast on Oct. 10, 12, 15, and 17, 2021 on mezzo.tv. The production is being recorded by EUROARTS and ZDF/Arte with Japan NHK and Deutsche Grammophon as co-producers.

The production, which opened Hamburg’s 2021-22 season starred Benjamin Bernheim in the title role, Olga Peretyatko as the four heroines, Angela Brower as La Muse / Nicklausse, and Luca Pisaroni as the four villains.

The cast is rounded out by Gideon Poppe, Kristina Stanek, Martin Summer, Dongwon Kang, Jürgen Sacher, Daniel Schliewa, Han Kim, and Bernhard Hansky. Kent Nagano conducts the production by Daniele Finzi Pasca.

“Les Contes d’Hoffmann” opened on Sept. 4 and runs through Sept. 25, 2021.
