Myke Towers Performs New Single ‘Experimento’ at 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards

Myke Towers released his new single titled “Experimento,” which he premiered during the Billboard Latin Music Awards on Thursday (Sept. 23).

The chart-topping artist’s new song is a departure from the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter’s signature rap anthems, as “Experimento” is more of a soft pop-leaning track that shows off Towers’ versatility. While Towers fused the track with a little salsa on the stage, the track in its original form is pure pop.

The song serves as a preview of his forthcoming album, set to drop at the end of the year. Titled Michael, it will follow his two previews sets Easy Money Baby — which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart dated Feb. 8, 2020 — and Lyke Mike from earlier this year. The latter peaked at No. 3 on the tally.

Along with the song, the 27-year-old artist also released a music video directed by Brad Furman featuring NBA superstar Terry Rozier and model/influencer Josie Canseco. The clip finds Myke as a spectator that dives into an experimental fantasy.

“He is a musical force and a true artist. I love Puerto Rico so combining that with my deep love of reggaeton, I felt this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. To direct and work with one of the hottest international artists coming out of Puerto Rico was a dream,” Furman said in a statement.

With more than 100 titles on the Billboard charts, Towers joined fellow hitmaker Rauw Alejandro for a “Mano a Mano” during the 2021 Latin Music Week in Miami on Sept. 22.

Presented by Patron Tequila and moderated by Billboard‘s Jessica Roiz, Towers and Alejandro first cheered with a Patron drink before doing a deep dive of their careers, reflecting on their humble beginnings when they’d upload songs to SoundCloud for visibility.

“I started in 2013 and the Internet was my best tool,” Towers said during the panel. “A lot of people back then didn’t know much about SoundCloud, but I took advantage of it. And I knew that what was missing in that movement was rappers, so I thought, ‘I’ll start rapping and go from there.'”
