Betty Cotter, a former editor of the Independent and a veteran reporter who has covered the Southern Rhode Island area for nearly four decades, was inducted into the Rhode Island Journalism Hall of Fame Friday evening at the Quonset ‘O’ Club in North Kingstown.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — Betty Cotter is a journalist, editor, novelist and teacher. More importantly, she’s a storyteller who for nearly 40 years has given a voice to the many stories of life in South County.
