Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

Eagles film: Who will fill the Brandon Graham void? More on Josh Sweat, Derek Barnett, and other candidates. - Inquirer
The majority of Sweat’s rushes — 81.3 percent — have come from the right vs. left tackles. Barnett has a similar percentage (81.6). Gannon was asked if switching sides affects edge rushers as much as it can for tackles on the other side of the ball. “That’s a little case by case,” Gannon said. “How our guys are trained … since we’ve been here with [defensive line coaches Tracy] Rocker and [Jeremiah] Washburn, they feel pretty good playing multiple spots and both sides.” One of Barnett’s [No. 96] three pressures this season came from the left side in Week 1. Barnett, a former first-round draft pick, is a relentless defender. He hasn’t been a bust, but his production hasn’t matched expectations, partly because of multiple injuries. He isn’t especially large, and if he can’t turn the corner, he struggles with power moves against better left tackles like the 49ers’ Trent Williams [No. 71].

Exploring Eagles’ options to replace Brandon Graham - NBCSP
Through two weeks of the season, the veteran Ryan Kerrigan has played 66 of 142 snaps (46%) on defense and has primarily been Graham’s backup/rotational counterpart at the left defensive end spot. So it’s worth pointing out that 52 of his 66 snaps (78.8%) have come from the left side of the line. Even in Washington, he primarily rushed off the left side of the line. Perhaps this is as easy as bumping Kerrigan up to the starting gig. But Kerrigan is 33 now and is likely better suited to be more of a rotational player. He got more snaps than Josh Sweat in Week 2, but that shouldn’t continue. Heck, there might be some concern about Kerrigan in general. He’s played 66 snaps so far and hasn’t registered a single defensive statistic yet: No tackles, sacks, passes blocked, nothing. He missed most of training camp but it’s taking him a while to get comfortable. Kerrigan flashed a couple times in Week 2 as a pass rusher but didn’t get home. So it’s hard to argue that he deserves more playing time.

The Eagles are underdogs against the Cowboys in Dallas - BGN
The Birds are coming off a frustrating loss in which they failed to capitalize on prime opportunities to earn a win over the San Francisco 49ers. Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts both showed growing pains. (Or, at least, that’s what one would hope to classify them as.) The vibes shifted in a bad way following Jalen Reagor’s non-touchdown catch on Sunday afternoon. The Cowboys are trending in a more positive direction, for their sake. After scoring a “moral victory” over the reigning Super Bowl champions in Week 1, they edged out a good Los Angeles Chargers team on the road in Week 2. Breakout performances from Tony Pollard (16 touches for 140 yards and one touchdown) and rookie linebacker-turned-edge rusher Micah Parsons (league-high seven pressures) helped the Cowboys secure their first victory.

If he keeps this level of play up over the course of the season, he’s going to be First-Team All-Pro.

NFL Week 3: Key matchups and storylines for all 16 games - PFF
Biggest storyline: Can Jalen Hurts continue his strong start to the season? Hurts’ starting job entering the year was far from secure, but he’s done himself nothing but favors with his play through Week 2. Only Tom Brady has a higher PFF grade (93.0) than Hurts (87.5) among quarterbacks entering Week 3. The two big areas where he’s shown improvement over 2020 are accuracy and care with the football. Hurts’ accurate pass rate, based on PFF’s ball-charting data, is 71% this season after being just 50% in 2020. And his turnover-worthy play rate has dropped from 4.6% in 2020 to 1.4% through the first two weeks of this season. That kind of play makes Philadelphia a threat in what appears to once again be an open race in the NFC East.

What have we learned about Eagles’ Jalen Hurts so far: Real deal or a project? Experts weigh in - NJ.com
“Hurts’ mobility and ability to avoid turnover-worthy throws gives him a good floor, especially as a high-quality backup, but his game is too incomplete,” Klassen said. “The middle of the field is a completely dead area for Hurts right now and that has to change. Until then, he’s a bottom-third NFL starter.” Solak likes Hurts’ intangibles, which he believes will set him up for a long NFL career. But like Klassen, he believes Hurts must improve his game quickly to hold onto the starting job beyond this season. “So far, they’ve really struggled to target the entire field and have a legitimate, steady, consistent, reliable passing game,” Solak said. “So for as long as Hurts is lacking that, he’s just going to be that Andy Dalton type, that low-end fringe starter, not giving you everything you want if you have Super Bowl aspirations, but by no means limiting your team.”

NFL picks against the spread: Sheil Kapadia has the Bears, Giants and Vikings in Week 3 - The Athletic
The Eagles failed to capitalize on a number of opportunities against San Francisco last week. They had a field goal blocked and came away with no points on another possession that stalled at the 49ers’ 1. Their zone-heavy scheme under coordinator Jonathan Gannon forces opponents to methodically move the ball downfield. But that’s something Dallas has shown it can do — whether it’s a pass-heavy attack like in Week 1 or a run-gashing attack like in Week 2. It’s possible that Jalen Hurts puts together a nice game against a Cowboys defense that has outperformed its talent so far. But ultimately, I believe in the Cowboys’ offense and think they’ll be able to put up points. The pick: Cowboys (-3.5).

Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott and Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts bring top-notch intangibles to QB duel - ESPN
Hurts: He definitely has it. That was evident even as a rookie, when teammates began using the same words to describe him — “natural-born leader” — as if they were reading from a common script. He holds players accountable. Hurts hits receivers with playbook pop quizzes when he passes them in the hallway and demands better execution when a practice rep falls short of expectation. He has made it a point to establish a connection with everyone in the locker room, whether by taking them out to dinner or simply seeking out common ground. And he’s doing all of this at age 23. Most of Hurts’ stripes have been earned through his work ethic, illustrated by his daily 5 a.m. workouts at Lane Johnson’s personal gym, the “Bro Barn,” this offseason, where he was granted access into the Eagles’ offensive line fraternity. “He doesn’t think he’s above anybody,” Philadelphia guard Nate Herbig said. “He doesn’t work like he’s entitled to anything. He works like he owes you something. I have a lot of respect for that.”

Jonathan Gannon confident that the turnovers will come - PE.com
The ability to be versatile has been important in Gannon’s defense, one that ranks second in points allowed and fourth in fewest yards per game permitted. Gannon will continue to move pieces around to create the most favorable matchups for the Eagles’ defense. Gannon’s defense has not yet taken the football away through two games, but he feels confident those takeaways will happen. “We’ve done some good things and, like everybody, myself included, you’d like to have a couple of plays back from both of those games,” Gannon said. “I think that you saw some hands on the ball last week and those will come. It’s like the head coach (Nick Sirianni) talks about, ‘What you know is to be true, you keep doubling down on that process in how we practice and how we prepare, how we talk about taking the ball away, they will come.’ So, I’m not real concerned about that.” This would be a great week to get some takeaways against a Dallas offense that averages 24.5 points and 435 yards per game in its 1-1 start.

12) MIles Sanders. Hopefully he can get a TD.

Jack Anderson signed off Buffalo Bills practice squad - Buffalo Rumblings
The Buffalo Bills have lost one of their 2021 NFL Draft picks. The Philadelphia Eagles have signed seventh-round pick OG Jack Anderson to their active roster after placing Brandon Brooks on injured reserve. Brooks’s injury is not expected to be season-ending, so it’s possible Anderson could be released and ultimately return to Buffalo at some point this year. Anderson was Buffalo’s final pick of the draft. A mauling, hard-nosed guard from Texas Tech in the mold of Richie Incognito, Anderson was a developmental prospect for the next season or two.

Report: Cowboys likely to be without Dorance Armstrong and Carlos Watkins on Monday night - Blogging The Boys
To say that things have been challenging for the Dallas Cowboys on the injury front would be a bit casual. Despite the fact that we are only at Week 3 of the season, America’s Team has had to get creative in several different ways. Michael Gallup, La’el Collins, Zack Martin, Randy Gregory, and DeMarcus Lawrence are just some of the players who have already missed time during this campaign and unfortunately it appears as if names are going to continue to be added to the list. Wednesday it was reported that linebacker Keanu Neal was being added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list as a high-risk contact and it remains to be seen whether or not he will play on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles. As preparations begin in earnest for the game, it seems as if Dorance Armstrong and Carlos Watkins will miss the primetime affair.

Giants vs. Falcons injury news: Evan Engram limited, still uncertain for Sunday - Big Blue View
New York Giants tight end Evan Engram, who has missed the first two games of the season with a calf injury, continued to be a limited practice participant on Wednesday as the Giants worked to get ready for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. Three Giants — Cam Brown (hamstring), Nate Ebner (quad) and Austin Johnson (illness) did not practice. In addition to Engram, Saquon Barkley (knee), Kenny Golladay (hip), Logan Ryan (hamstring) and Kaden Smith (knee) were limited practice participants.

Washington Football Team vs Buffalo Bills Wednesday Injury Report - Hogs Haven
Antonio Gibson injured his shoulder in Week 1, and showed up on the injury report last week, but was cleared to played vs the Giants. He was limited in practice today, but should be ready to go on Sunday. Gibson played 61% of the snaps on offense Thursday night.

Colts Injury Report: QB Wentz, RT Smith and CB Rhodes All Miss Practice - Stampede Blue
Right tackle Braden Smith missed practice today with foot and thumb injuries. Smith injured his foot Week 1 and missed the Week 2 game. Coach Reich said today that Smith has a foot strain and it appears that he could miss this weeks game too. Quarterback Carson Wentz missed practice today with ankle injuries. Wentz sparined both his ankle against the Rams. Coach Reich said today that Wentz could miss all weeks practice and still play but the more practice he misses this week the less likely he is to play on Sunday against the Titans. It could be the Jacob Eason show this week.

Tua Tagovailoa out with fractured ribs - The Phinsider
After the game, initial reports indicated x-rays had come back negative, but the Dolphins were waiting for more tests on Monday. The reports of those tests stated there was no major structural damage for Tagovailoa, with the team and Tagovailoa working on a pain management and functionality plan. Now, it appears there actually is at least a fracture in Tagovailoa’s ribs. There is no indication on how much time Tagovailoa may miss. Jacoby Brissett is expected to take the starter’s role in Tagovailoa’s absence. Reid Sinnett, on Miami’s practice squad, will likely be active on Sunday as the team’s backup quarterback.

Jordan Hicks playing bigger role in Cardinals defense than initially expected - PFT
The Cardinals didn’t draft Collins to keep him on the bench, so roles could change again as the season unfolds. For now, though, the Cardinals are winning and Hicks remains the man in the middle of the defense.
