Multiple people were rescued from Studio City apartments in Cuyahoga Falls Thursday morning after a fire broke out in an apartment on the top floor.

Cuyahoga Falls Fire Chief Chris Martin said one person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. He said firefighters helped at least 15 to 20 people out of the building.

The fire started just before 4 a.m. in the northeast building. The apartments are at 2299 Winter Parkway, which is off Munroe Falls Avenue.

Six units from Cuyahoga Falls responded, along with mutual aid from six other departments.

Martin said the fire was limited to one apartment on the fifth floor of the building, which was occupied at the time.

He said a lot of people were on apartment balconies when firefighters arrived. Martin said they were able to get into the building and escort people down the stairways.

Martin said firefighters did a great job on scene, adding that the size of the building made the job labor intensive.

"The fifth floor is hard to get to, especially in this building," Martin said. "We had to use creative ways to get hoses to the top floor."

Martin said the American Red Cross was called in and a few families will likely be displaced by the fire.

He said the fire didn't spread too much due to the way the building was built, but that a few apartments near the one that caught fire were affected.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.
