Blue Bloods Season 12 is happening! Our favorite multi-generational cop family from the Big Apple is back once again bringing more drama into our hearts and home.

Blue Blood has been renewed for another season after an intense 11 seasons. There's much to anticipate as the story picks up from a shoot-out where Ty sacrifices himself. The Reagan family is expected to face more adversities in the forthcoming Blue Bloods Season 12.

In the Season 11 finale episode, Frank Reagan's grandson, Joe Hill, finally returned after a leave of absence. Joe works undercover to topple an illegal gun ring, and each of the Reagan family works together to protect Joe not only as a family but as cops.

During the gun bust, a shoot-out ensued, leading to Ty -- a member of the gun ring, who soon joined Joe's side -- sacrificing himself to save Joe. Although the gun bust did not go as planned Joe continues on, and the episode ended with the Reagans sitting down for their Sunday dinner.

Blue BloodsSeason 12 Episode 1: Behind The Scenes

CBS has been very generous to the fans as they released new photos on set for fans to look forward to. The upcoming Blue Bloods Season 12 Episode 1, titled Hate is Hate, will center on the reunion of Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) as they were assigned to work on a case together. Avid followers of the show are hoping that the two will have a romantic narrative as the show progresses.

In another photo released to the public, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) and Mayor Peter Chase (Dylan Walsh) are seen talking to one another. It seems like the two will have a confrontation with one another regarding the increasing crime statistics of New York City. The tension between Frank and Mayor Chase has been on an all-time high and fans can expect that this will continue in Blue Bloods Season 12.

Of course, there will be another Reagan family dinner, which is one of the staple family events, in Blue Bloods Season 12. This has become such an important part of Blue Bloods that it would seem eerie that the show goes on without it.

Fans are hoping to catch glimpses of Joe Hill on Blue Bloods Season 12. After all, he was one of the most important characters in the last installment. CBS did not release any teaser photo of Joe Hill for the imminent new season. Most likely, the grandson of Frank Reagan will be an on-and-off character.
