DWCS 40 winner Kleydson Rodrigues content at flyweight, has no plans of moving up a weight class anytime soon

LAS VEGAS – Kleydson Rodrigues is a fairly large flyweight but is having no issues hitting the 125-pound mark.

Rodrigues’ size advantage was evident in his dominant unanimous decision win over Santo Curatolo at Dana White’s Contender Series 40 on Tuesday and the 5-foot-6 Brazilian sees flyweight being his home for the foreseeable future.

“I feel really good about this division,” Rodrigues told MMA Junkie and other reporters in attendance at the UFC Apex following Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series 40 event. “I want to keep in the division, and I really don’t lose that much weight. When I lose weight, maybe eight kilos, so talking about double that in pounds, but I want to keep in the same division for now.”

Rodrigues (7-1) threw an array of flashy strikes in his sixth straight win, but with Curatolo having a hard time dealing with his range, the contest wasn’t as action-packed as he had hoped it to be.

“It was frustrating because I did want to show some stuff, maybe take him down, maybe some counters, but it didn’t develop like that,” Rodrigues said. “But still, very happy to get the win.”
