Watch Foo Fighters Play Corporate Gig Accompanied By Mascots Astro, Einstein & Ruth
At this point the Foo Fighters have played just about every kind of gig you could imagine, sharing the stage with a galaxy of legendary rock stars, teenage drum prodigies and plenty of brave audience members. But in San Francisco on Tuesday the band really kicked things up a notch by sharing the stage with Einstein.
Okay, so not the long-dead theoretical physicist with the rockin’ hair, but a giant costumed mascot joined by his fellow oversized adorable pals Astro and Ruth at a corporate gig for tech firm Salesforce. The show as part of the company’s three-day Dreamforce conference and the Foos helped kick things off by ripping through “All My Life” with the three mascots bounced around the stage.
“I’m gonna need you guys to dance the whole time. Can you do this? Can you do this?,” Grohl asked the three, an elephant, a girl in a cat costume and, well, Albert, who bounced along to the song’s ripping attack. “Einstein. Focus Einstein! This is gonna be good. Watch these f—in’ people dance to this s–t,” Grohl grinned.
“I’m going to break it down, because I know you’re f—ing dying in that suit right now. Einstein, are you okay?” Grohl asked as the Foos slipped into a bit of Ted Nugent’s “Cat Scratch Fever.” It was all super weird, and Grohl knew it, warning Al that he was exciting his atoms a bit too much. “Just when I thought life couldn’t get any f—ing weirder. You need to chill fuck out, Einstein. You’re going too hard, brother.” The singer then collapsed in laughter when the Nobel-winning mascot wiggled his mustache in time.
“You guys are amazing,” he told the trio as the polo shirt-wearing crowd burst into applause. “Now get the f–k off my stage right now! Wow, what just happened?” Grohl later posted a clip from the performance, tweeting, “Just when you thought the band couldn’t get any bigger… we’ve added dancers.
