What 'Jeopardy!' Star Buzzy Cohen Has Said About Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings Hosting

Jeopardy! champion and former guest host Buzzy Cohen is keen for some calm on the quiz show after the chaotic hosting debacle.

It has now been announced that the hosting duties will be split between Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik for the rest of the year following the Mike Richards scandal.

The quiz show announced last week that: "Beginning Monday, September 20, Bialik is hosting several weeks of episodes, which will air through November 5. After that, Bialik and Jennings will split hosting duties as their schedules allow through the end of the calendar year."

The move has been welcomed by many fans including former guest host—who emerged as a frontrunner for the job at one point—Cohen, who said he is pleased to see Jennings and Bialik take the reins and replace the late and much loved Alex Trebek.

"A little steadiness through the end of the year will be welcome. Go get 'em @missmayim and @KenJennings!" Cohen tweeted following the announcement.

Bialik has expressed her wish to host the show a number of times. In an essay penned for Newsweek last week, The Big Bang Theory star opened up about the controversy surrounding Mike Richards.

Richards was forced to step down as host and executive producer after offensive comments he made on a podcast several years ago emerged.

"I didn't immediately know who the other host was going to be, and after Mike Richards was announced as permanent host, a couple more weeks passed and then everything changed and Mike stepped down," Bialik wrote.

"I think everyone who works with me will say that, as a person who has been acting since I was a kid, I go where I'm pointed and I do the job I'm told to do. I do what's in front of me. I don't really follow the news aspect of my industry too much. That's how I approached what was going on."

"Of course I was in touch with Mike as he was my boss at that time, and I don't wish ill on him, or anyone," she went on. "But the complexity of these situations is not something that can be summed up easily.

"My first response, when all of this went down, was to say to the Jeopardy! team: 'How can I help?' Because I am part of this family."

Meanwhile, fan-favorite frontrunner for the hosting job, LeVar Burton has revealed that he no longer wants to host Jeopardy!

"The crazy thing is that when you set your sights on something, you know, they say be careful of what you wish for, because what I found out is that it wasn't the thing that I wanted after all," Burton said on The Daily Show.
