Vic Fangio says Urban Meyer told him, ‘Every week is like playing Alabama in the NFL’

No one said it was going to be easy for Urban Meyer.

The Jacksonville Jaguars coach is currently 0-2 in his first season as an NFL coach. After years of success at multiple programs - including Ohio State and Florida - the difficulty of competing in the NFL has so college parallels.

Except for one: The Alabama Crimson Tide.

Denver Broncos coach Vic Fangio shared Wednesday a brief conversation with Meyer.

“This is the NFL,” Fangio said. “I don’t know Urban Meyer at all, really, I met him the other day, shook his hand before the game and after the game. And his comment to me was, ‘Every week is like playing Alabama in the NFL.’ That’s it. Everybody’s capable of beating everybody in this league.”

Meyer’s comment came after his team lost 23-13 to the Broncos:

Urban Meyer, who went 186-32 as a college head coach, had a win .853 winning percentage in college. In fact, he never lost more than two games a season in his seven years at Ohio State. His Jaguars, more than a touchdown underdog on Sunday, face the Cardinals on Sunday.
