ODU Police investigating armed robbery outside campus dorm

Correction: Our on-air version of this story incorrectly said the robbery happened inside the dorm. It happened in a parking lot outside.

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Old Dominion University Police responded to an armed robbery early Thursday morning on campus.

An alert sent out by ODU at 1:46 a.m. said an armed robbery had occurred in the parking lot at the Rogers Main dormitory on W. 50th Street. Three masked males armed with handguns left the area in an unknown direction.

Citizens were told to stay out of the area until officers were no longer on scene. The all clear was given around 4:12 a.m.

ODU provided this statement to WAVY News 10 Thursday afternoon:

The safety of our students is a priority at Old Dominion University. University Police issued a Timely Warning via the O.D.U.
