A motorcyclist died in Huntington Beach after he struck a car turning into a shopping center on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 22, police said.

The Huntington Beach Police Department was notified of a crash at 4:22 p.m. between an SUV and a motorcycle along Beach Boulevard near Adams Avenue, said Jennifer Carey, spokeswoman for the Police Department. First responders located the motorcyclist and pronounced him dead at the scene, Carey said.

Identifying information for the motorcyclist was not immediately available.

The SUV overturned after the crash and the driver was transported to a hospital, Carey said. Information on the driver’s condition was not immediately available.

Investigators believe the motorcyclist was headed north on Beach Boulevard, north of Adams Avenue, when the SUV was headed south on Beach Boulevard and attempted to make a left into the Newland Shopping Center, Carey said.

Two other motorcyclists were killed in the city of Orange this week in separate crashes.
