Baltimore Lieder Weekend to Present ‘A Kaleidoscope of Black American Songs and Arias’

On October 15, 2021, Baltimore Lieder Weekend will launch with a recital from soprano Joelle Lamarre and pianist Daniel Schlosberg.

Titled “A Kaleidoscope of Black American Songs and Arias,” the program will feature works from composers such as E.E. Boykin, Anthony Davis, Adolphus Hailstork, Richard Thompson, Florence Price, Nkeiru Okoye, and more. It will be held at the An Die Musik LIVE in Baltimore, Maryland.

Lamarre has appeared in the world premieres of Chicago Opera Theater’s production of Dan Shore’s “Freedom Ride,” as well as Long Beach Opera’s production of Anthony Davis’ Pulitzer Prize-winning opera, “Central Park Five.” Schlosberg, who is director of Baltimore Lieder Weekend, has performed as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as well as numerous chamber music concerts.

The performances will be free to watch in person or stream online on October 15 and 16, with reservations required due to limited capacity. Baltimore Lieder Weekend is sponsored by The Hampsong Foundation, Free Fall Baltimore, and Baltimore Office of Promotion and The Arts.
